The Museum of East Texas is delighted to host an Artist Talk with Bill Walterman and Peter Brown, professor at the Glasscock School of Rice University on Sunday, February 4 at 2 p.m. The talk will focus on the process of creating Walterman's book Shine the Light, a collection of 119 photographs captured at East Texas black churches over a period of six years. Twenty-one of the photographs from the book will be on display in our chapel throughout the spring. After the Artist Talk, the Museum will host an opening reception for our five new exhibits: Angelina Photographic Association's Nature, Jeffie Brewer's Joy Machine, George Fidone's Epiphany, Kay Griffith's Convergence, and Bill Walterman's Shine the Light. All the artists will be present and it will be a wonderful opportunity to see these exhibits for the first time, get to visit with the artists, and then come back again and again throughout the spring. Both the artist talk and reception are open to the public for no admission fee, thanks to our wonderful sponsors, community, and members. We hope to see you soon!
